Relief from chronic costochondritus?

Is there any way to avoid chronic costochondritus?

My chest "pop"/"crack" constantly, especially when I stretch or turn my body, constantly causing my chest-wall to get inflamed.  Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening, except permanently strapping my self to limit motion of my chest...

Also, when does anti-inflamatories become dangerous?  How much, is too much?

Wide spread through the body that is...not wide spread through the population, at all ;D

Thanks for the imformation.  I will most definately keep it in mind.

Just to note tho, I have read that people with Marfan's need to be very careful of herbal/natural remedies, so it would be best to get these supplements in pharmaceutical form, rather than for instance a homeopath.

I am not sure about the reason for this claim but it might have to do with either the heart-related complications and/or the fact that Marfan's is too wide spread to determine negative affects that a herb might have.

I havn't actually tried many of these yet for my costochondritis

The following work very well for the relief of costochondritis:
Glucosamine/Chondroitin Sulfate (heals cartilage)
Ginger Root (inflammation)
Evening Primrose Oil (inflammation)
Bromelain (inflammation)
Vitamin C (boosts immune system)
Vitamin E (anti-oxidant, inflammation)
Eating fatty fish, such as salmon or sardines for their Omega-3 oils (inflammation)
White Willow Bark (inflammation)
Goldenseal (inflammation, cleansing, good for viral)
Echinacea-(boosts immune system, take for two weeks, two weeks off, etc., will not work as well if taken continuously)
Kava Kava (calming)
Valerian Root (calming, helps sleep)
Grape Seed Extract (antioxidant)

Hi Abhjeet

Thanks for your reply.

Well I guess some gastritus is inevitable, seeing as I have a lot of inflammation, not just costochondritus, due to having Marfan's.  Can gastritis become life threatening?  I have had problems with my asophagus being raw and I have had a lump like feeling in my throught for some time now, making it difficult to swallow pills and I am guessing that would be the reason.  My GP prescribes me anti-acids when it is bad but hasn't said anything about it possibly being due to anti inflamatories.

If it is not that serious, is it a worth-while compromise?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
hi buddy,
well there is not much you can do to prevent this except to avoid the movements which is causing this problem.Applying diclofenac gel will definately help you. Anti-inflamatories will help you to get pain relief and swelling relief also but too much pumping of it can result into gastritis.
hope i am clear.
regards
