50% torn quariceps tendon. What to do?

Hi guys. Good thing I found this forum.. I just had a quadriceps tendon tear, my ortho said around 50% torn. He is giving me 2 choices, if surgery it would take 3 months with PT for me to recover.. if it's non-surgical treatment, I would be wearing 6 weeks immobilzer plus PT (indefinite timeframe) .. Doctor said both ways will take 12 months for full recovery.. he said in 12 months I cant do excessive activities like sports. Right now I'm on the 2nd week with immobilzer but just yesterday my other ortho has given me 1 week to decide of which one to choose, surgical or conservative (non surgical)

My cousin doctor advise me to choose the non surgical treatment.. he said the wounds will heal and the scar tissue will be taken out by my body thru the healing process later on.. then undergo a PT.. he said if it isnt successful, then my last resort is to have a surgery.

What are your thought guys? I really appreciate some good advise.. thanks a lot in advance

By the way Im a filmmaker, im an editor and cinematographer.. most of the time im in the editing room.. but sometimes im out filming some TVC and movies. As a cinematographer for now I think i'll not work pysically, i'll just give instruction and command to my people.

I can also copy paste my MRI reading here. If only I can upload a photo of my MRI here but I couldn't find a feature in comment box.
