Groin injury or hernia?

Hello, I pulled my groin about 5 months ago playing soccer. I continued to play and lift weights including squats and other leg exercises. I have a ball like lump on my groin and hasn’t gone away, but the pain has gradually decreased. The pain used to go to my pelvic bone and stomach. I started training again and the pain and lump are still there but with not as much pain. I wanna know if its a hernia or if a pulled groin can also cause a lump or ball like in that area.

You sound like my son (said with kindness). Also a soccer player and also so tempted to play through pain. Groin injuries are common in soccer.  It could be a sports hernia. It could also be a healing pulled groin muscle. Does the pain increase with exertion?

Yes it does increase with exertion. Im sore from training yesterday. At first no pain then increases the more I train
Okay, ya. You need to go to the doctor to make sure all is well before continuing your work outs. My son never wants to do this but you can make something worse otherwise. Ice, ibuprofen . . . these often help. But won't help a hernia. I tend to think it is more muscle related but you need to rule out hernia. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/inguinal-hernia/symptoms-causes/syc-20351547
