I was told my foot can fall off?

after my standing x-ray, once I heard this i started crying,  but I did e-mail his office & got this explainaition  We were discussing your hindfoot is drifting away from your ankle.  Your ankle is the joint above and the subtalar joint is the joint below your ankle.  Your subtalar joint is drifting away from your ankle "foot falling off your ankle".  .  I believe he also said I have a torn ligament, he did a test where you lift one foot off the ground & try to raise the other heel &   I can't get the heel off the ground, so he said something is torn.   I'd like to look up info  on this but why I try to do searches, things like foot drop comes up and flat feet,    Is any of that the same?  he also mentioned there is usually 2 options  a bone fusion or a brace,   what can I look up for more info? I would like to be more prepared for my visit with an orthopedic surgeon,  I want a second option & want to know what to ask.  thanks
