PRP or platelet rich plasma is a new technique being used to treat nerve injury, bone injury, tendonitis etc, in cases, where all other treatment options have failed. It is a new therapy, being given in controlled trials. It shows beneficial effect in bone or joint remodeling and in relieving pain. The clinical effect of PRP is supposed to be modulated through cytokines and growth factors which help in the healing process. However, its long term efficacy or long term safety is not known. The initial results are promising. Take care!
