About 2.5 weeks ago a twisted my ankle a bit walking up stairs (long story). When I took a turning step I felt the foot buckle a bit and there was a little discomfort -- but no pain, no swelling and almost all range of motion. I wrapped it up, iced etc and had to travel -- and had no issues traveling. Thought it was minor enough and just been self-treating with ice, brace once in a while, walking stick occasionally to keep weight off etc and it seems to have got better to the point of not being too noticeable anymore.
I noticed today after a long drive and some walking, that in the middle of my foot directly above ankle area, there was a sort of unstable/buckling/stiff feeling with certain (not all) movements -- like if I am in a bending forward type movement I can feel it but not with any other movements. I also notice that if I try to repeat the movement for it it seems to go away, but comes back if I try after a bit.
It almost feels like the area that I've been putting a bit of stress on by keeping weight off the ankle may have been aggravated, although not sure.
Understanding I may want to get it checked out to be sure later this week, any thoughts on the best way to treat? Maybe I should be exercise/massage that area more instead of icing/keeping weight off? Again, I walk fine, can run, no pain, no swelling etc -- it's just that certain movement gives me that discomforting feeling.
Thx
