Where are you at with this? Are you off crutches? Did you schedule a second opinion? They never hurt. But would guess that you are on track to healing or he wouldn't have suggested it. He doesn't want you to have a set back.
More opinion is a must. Just because these professionals have degrees does not mean they are good. Also, there is always a good chance of human error, "trust but double check ";)
Always a second if not a third opinion. Here's why. In 2011 my left ankle was totaled due to arthritis. it was bone on bone with no cartilage left. The first doctor said the ankle will have to be fused. I went for a second opinion. That doctor said fusion in the long run will complicate things. Instead, I had an artificial STAR ankle put in. NO MORE PAIN for the past 8 years with no complications.
I mean the doctor is the certified professional, not your co workers or friends. Every patient is different. I wish my doctor would have given me that prognosis instead I needed a surgery. But a second opinion hurts no one and he may have the same prognosis and at least you will feel better about the plan. Good luck!
