I am sorry you are in so much pain. It sounds like sciatica. And if you can find a good chiropractor it would be worth it. I have seen doctors (specialists) for back pain and even had physical therapy and nerve blocks. Nothing helped and in fact the physical therapy make the pain worse. It was a chiropractor that has helped tremendously with my back pain (among other things). If you are in the Seattle area or Illinois I can recommend some good chiropractors.
I hope this helps,

Radiculopathy, ie, sciatic nerve impingement.... in the acute setting this may be due to a herniatic lumbar disk. In the chronic setting, this may be due to arthritic spurs in the lumbar spine.
If this is acute, do you have bowel or bladder problems? If so, go the ER immediately as it would indicate impending spinal cord compromise. If buttock/ leg pain is the only problem, then rest, avoid strenous activity, take painkillers as needed. The pain should resolve soon. See your doc if it doesnt get better in 3-4 days.
If this is chronic, see your doc whenever. Surgery may be needed to relieve the impinged nerve.
Avoid chiropractics.

It sounds like a pinched sciatic nerve. If you have any numbness, tingling or balance problems you need a mri. Your back could also be out and just need a chiropractic adjustment. Hope you get some relief soon.
