What would be the average recovery time for a 40 year old Tarsal coalition ankle fusion?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

Once established the osteoarthritis cannot be reversed and in a case where the disability due to pain is severe it may be required to eliminate the joint and to go for ankle arthrodesis, i.e. ankle fusion.

If the procedure is done perfectly you would need 12 weeks to recover and you start it with some initial support and slowly put pressure on the operated side of the leg.

Discuss about the full procedure and time lines about your case with the operating orthopedician.

Take care!
