Hi Sheetal,
I can understand what you are going through.
Scoliosis is a 3D curvature of the spine, best appreciated on an AP radiograph and physical examination.
Both thoracic and lumbar segments of the spine may be affected.
It is defined as a curve >10°.
When you were first diagnosed with Scoliosis?
Scoliosis may occur at any age.
The most common age at diagnosis of idiopathic scoliosis is 11 to 13 years.
The spine in patients with scoliosis is not unstable hence you can be as active as possible.
You can take help of physical therapy and exercise if pain or stiffness is present.
What has been told to you about the angle of spine curvature?
I need to know how severe your scoliosis is.
You can consult an orthopedic surgeon and plan for a fusion surgery.
If a curve is to be fused, 1 or 2 rods are used to correct the curve, and a bone graft is placed along the rod to cause the vertebrae to fuse. Only the curved region is fused.
The neurologic risk is currently <1% with this procedure.
Which place do you belong to and where have you been diagnosed?
Keep me informed I would like to follow up with your case.
Bye.
Hello Sheetal.
There is treatment for Scoliosis. You can have a temporary relief from physiotherapy. You can also use Brace (Milwaukee Brace). It helps when you have ongoing bone growth.
Surgery is one of the other options. An orthopedic surgeon can do Spinal fusion, bone grafting and the use of instrumentation.
Now a days they are also using extendible rods and vertebral stapling.
There are various option. Please discuss these with your Orthopedic surgeon.
Wish you good luck.
