Am I Being Too Dramatic

I will cut to the chase I have all the symptoms of ovarian cancer.
The bloating, abdominal pain, constipation, fatigue etc.
I had a CT scan when taken to the emergenct room after 10 days of constipation.
This was five months ago.
I read my CT report and the words, ascites, adnexal mass, and myatomous(sp?) jumped out at me
I made  agyn appointment and in two days I have a pelvic sonogram, abdominal sonogram and mamography because my gyn asked me to make appointments for them.
He took blood
He said my uterus is bulky.
I am in constant pain now.
Should I be worried?
Please be honest

If the doctor doesn't remember you and your problems, that's a real bad sign.  Bu before you "fire" him ...

Request copies of all the tests he took.  You may not understand everything in the test results, but they may allay your fears.  If not, take those test results to another doctor and get clarification.

Good luck.

I agree that you should see a gyn/oncologist.  Anemia was my only detectable symptom for years before my diagnosis.  You are probably okay, but I think better safe than sorry.  Good Luck, Marie

See if you can find a Gynecological Oncologist who does not require a referral.  It isn't that I think your doctor is completely wrong, but if you are going to get a second opinion, I think you should get one from someone who is qualified to offer a sound opinion on what's going on.  GYN/Onc's are used to dealing with gynecological cancers, and can offer a more educated opinion.  I do have to say the intial report sounds good though.  I don't doubt something isn't right, but at this point, not having anything suspicious for cancer is a good thing.  I actually hate it when doctors confuse OvCa symptoms for IBS issues, but if you cannot find anything wrong gynecologically, perhaps it could be something intestinal.  I am glad you are trying to rule out gyn issues, though.  Better safe than sorry.  Good luck, and let us know when you find another doctor.  Sending positive vibes that you find a good one!

Well I just got back from my gyn. I saw him today after he called me Thursday to come in asap because he wanted to talk to me about my bloodwork. I freaked out but was in the middle of the city and finally got to see him today. He sat me down to tell me that I was a little anemic. Are you  kidding me!? We had a whole discussion about my anemia when I saw him last. Then He asked me how long have I had it and I told him I had it for years. I asked hiim what about the abdominal pain, constipation and bullky uterus . He answered, "You have abdominal pain? Where?" I just wasted weeks of my time. He also had the results of my abdominal, pelvis, transvaginal sonogram and said everything was perfect. I dont have menopause therefore no perimenopause either.
I was stunned. He didnt answer anything. He told me to see a hemotologist fo rmy severe anemia. I called a friend of mine who is a nurse and she told me pelvic fluid and ascites is normal... everyone has it. I still know there is something wrong. I know my body. What about the constipation? What about the results of my pelvic and transvaginal sonogram!!!! I am so angry I could cry. I am going to see a second gyno as soon as i find a good one.

Had he told me i had a cyst or fibroids (which I do have and he made no mention of them (unless they go away on their own))I would have been satisfied but he said I was perfect. Dont get me wrong, I dont need anymore medical drama in my life I already have achalasia so, I think I know when there is something wrong with my body. I am not looking for something else. I just want answers. argh!

I am also urinating frequently , feeling full fast and bloated. I tell ya, I have all the darn symptoms but if this turns out to be minor, first, I would be so thankful to God, Second, I would be upset that the ovarian cancer screening is so vague. Efforts have to be made, and I am sure there are many people trying, to find a quick, efficient, clear cut way of diagnosing the cancer early. In this way many will have a better chance of survival and those who dont have it, have peace of mind.
My gyn called me back quickly after the blood test but I couldnt get to him ...so... because of ME, I have to wait until Monday. I should have insisted that he tell me on the phone but I was so terrified that he called me back, II went blank.

Thanks for the reply and good wishes:)

It does sound like you have many of the symptoms of ovarian cancer, but who knows? Prior to my cancer diagnosis, I was very bloated and had to urinate frequently.  I also felt full after eating little bits of food.  It's great you are being proactive because the symptoms "sneak up" on you. You may not even have any pain! I had no pain and quite a bit of energy.

One thing you may consider is getting a second opinion.  You should have already had a transvaginal ultrasound, then an MRI (with and without contrast) if they suspect something.  I had to go to a 2nd gyno just to get all these tests done quickly and efficiently.  Just don't waste any time.  These test results should come back within two days (if they put a rush order on it). You want to make sure you diagnosis this problem as early as possible.  If anything suspicious comes back, you will see a gynecologic oncologist.

Hopefully, you just have minor gyno problems. Let's wish for the best, though!  Good luck!

When will you get results from today's tests?  Isn't it a shame they can't just tell you right then and there what they see?  Have a good weekend, and try not to worry too much.  Enjoy your Easter!

Went to get my pelvic and abdominal sonogram and ended up having another transvaginal in less than 6 months. I wasnt expecting a Transv but there you are . The radiologist said she wanted a clearer pic.

Girls thatnks for the advice

Sandy I will keep in mind that if the test I took is the CA125 not to freak out about the numbers but try to stay calm and ask the right questions

This advice is very helpful;)

Thanks

It's very wise to be seeing a Gynecologist..He (or she) will then be able to refer you to a Gyn/Onc if he suspects anything. Sometimes it's difficult to get an appt. with a Gyn/Oncologist without a referral, especially in the larger cities.. Also regarding the CA-125, I agree with Gail. There are many women that have had higher numbers on that test that do not have cancer and conversely, many women that had very low numbers and still had Ovarian Cancer, so it really isn't all that reliable especially in premenopausal women.

Let us know, and good luck !!

One thing to keep in mind - even if you did have a CA125, it won't tell you if you have OvCa.  It can be elevated for many other reasons, most of them benign conditions.  It is a tool best used for those already diagnosed with cancer to monitor progress of chemo or other treatment.  I do agree with the others in that you are doing what you need to do to investigate this further.  Best wishes to you, and please keep us informed.

Hi, if I were you I would be making an appointment with a good Gyn/Onc ASAP. OVCA sometimes goes unnoticed , and when you are diagnosed your already in an advance stage. I know I've been there. Good Luck!!! Don't wait.

I just read the report when i started feeling the pain to see if perhaps something would explain it  and that swhen I read it and then quickly made the appt. My gyn read the report also.

I dont know what test it was.
Perhaps I should call the office tomorrow and ask?

Thanks for your reply and advice :)

You are doing all the right things!!!!  I understand it's hard to not worry, however use the "worry energy" towards positive and hopeful thoughts.

I do have a question...did you just read the report that was taken 5 months ago?  I didn't quite understand the timing.

Did you keep a record of the type of blood test they took?  The CA125 is the test that they use to "screen" for Ovarian cancer.  If you find waiting is too much, take your appoinment into your own hands and either admit yourself to ER or with a sweet voice explain your worry to your Dr. staff and say you will take ANY cancellation and that you would be willing to sit at their office in hopes for a cancellation...this is what I did for my Mom and it worked:)

Hang in there!!!!!
