Arlynn

Hi Arlynn, welcome to the message board noone ever plans to join, you'll find the women here to be friendly, compassionate, and well educated in OVCA. Thanks for your post re my question, I'm glad your husband went with you, there's so much info, we get at the meetings with our oncologist that it's really important to have someone there, or a pad with our questions written out. Please let us know what course of treatment you and your doctor decide on, I hope your recovery from surgery went smoothly. I was like that kid in the Exorcist on my second day after surgery, spewing green puke all over and they had to put an NG tube in for 2 days to get all the bile out, not fun. Thankfully my head didn't spin around, (I think). Take care and keep in touch...... Jane

Hi, Sounds like an agressive treatment plan, obviously you have a good group of doctors working with you! I wish you the best of luck
Don't be too fast to have your head shaved, it usually doesn't fall out until a few week into treatment, enjoy the locks for a bit. First clump in the shower, i had my head shaved and wore caps and kerchiefs. I did shampoo and condition just so the few stragglers coming back, knew I cared about them!
I know what you mean about people, sometimes they just don't knw what to say. A while back I had posted here that the next person who says "Gee, for someone with cancer, you look good" would get the you're a dope look. There was a lot of agreeable responses from the ladies.
What a miracle for your Mom, that's great. I had the BRCA gene mutation done for my family's medical info. I am positive for BRCA2, which makes me quite vulnerable for breast cancer now. Another layer on the onion!
I've had a chest port for my blood draws, and chemo, for 2 years now, with no problems.
Well, good luck with the port, and with your chemo. Lets keep in touch..... Jane

Hi Jane.  I found out my treatment plan today.  I will begin round 1 with IV taxol/carbo and then rounds 2-5 will be IV/IP with cisplatin and taxol.  Then round 6 will be IV taxol/carbo.  We told my chemo doctor we wanted to be aggressive.  She normally doesn't treat stage 2c with IP but my surgeon felt it would be good so we pushed for it and they already put in the port. Both of my doctors are gyn/oncologists. On Friday they will put in a port for my blood draws and IV drugs.  I have my first round on Tuesday.  I just want to get started so if any cancer cells are left die!  I actually did really well with my surgery.  When people see me they always say how good I look.  I feel good but I think people hear the word cancer and they already have you looking like ****.  I am going to have one of my sisters shave my head so I am in charge of when my hair goes.
I am grateful for this site.  Just to let you know my Mom is a 24+year ovarian cancer survivor so I have a great role model.  I am going to have the genetic testing so I can help my 3 sisters and my daughter with the results. This is one nasty disease that I don't like!  Take care and keep in touch.
