Back in the Hospital...

Sorry that it's been a bit. This is Ashley updating for Becky.
On Thursday night, around 10:30/11pm...Becky was having a lot of chest pains and had Adam call an ambulance. She was transported to RVH and after some tests they found that she had a large blood clot in her leg. A piece of this had broke off - into her lung. Thank goodness Becky was able to make this judgement call on Thursday night and know that something was seriously wrong with her or, as a doctor told her, this could have been it.
Her leg is once again very swollen b/c of all this. She had a blood transfusion yesterday as her hemoglobin - red blood cell count was low. RVH has been in contact with the surgeons in Toronto the plan of action right now is to have her on a high dosage of blood thinners (but, they have to be very careful as she is post surgical). They don't feel its necessary at this time to have her back in Toronto - which is good news for her and all of us - a 20 min drive to Barrie is better then a 1.5 hr drive to Toronto General! She said she's happier being closer to home.
I just talked to her (she helped me put this journal together!) and she said her breathing is better today. She is not sure when she will be released from the hospital at this time but, obviously at this time - she is in far better hands at the hospital - makes all of us feel a little better.
It's so hard to have to see her go through all this but, as we've all seen - her strength is so inspiring and just hope she always keeps it up! ! Keep on fighting girl!
She's supposed to have internet/TV in her room but, of course they aren't working. Hopefully they'll get fixed soon!

Thanks again for updating us Ashley. I am so sorry to hear Becky is going thru so much, it just isn't right..I am glad she got back in to the hospital, before it became critical. She is such a strong young woman. Please give her my love, and hopefully she will be home again soon, minus the complications.

Wow.....if it's not one thing it's another. She is young and she is strong, both physically and emotionally.......if she wasn't she wouldn't still be here. Please give her my love and support. I speak of her to my family often and she is on all our minds.
I know this whole oredeal is difficult for you and your extended family. I hope you know just how much we all need support from family members like you! In many instances, you are the reason we are able to get over the next hill......you make a huge difference.

I am sorry to hear she has had more trouble. Thank you for letting us know. I was wondering how she was doing. I am very glad she got to the hospital in time. Marie
very good that she knew that something was not right and you got her in to the hosp. yes, she is fighting and I would say she won another battle with that blot clot. she and all of you are in my prayers.
Glad to hear your ok. You will be in my prayers. Sounds like God was on your side. Being in the hospital is a good thing, they will keep a close eye on you which sounds like its what you need right now. Youll be home soon youll see
Thank you for updating us Ashley. Becky I am glad to hear that you are doing better and that you are right on top of things. Hopefully this will get fixed and you can recover and be back to normal in no time. You are one tough cookie and will be home in no time. Hang in there girl!

Thanks for the update Ashley. Please tell Becky that I am praying for her, and Iknow that she will get through this with flying colors. She is such a strong woman. I'm glad she is closer to home so you can all be there with her. Please give her all of our love. Hoping and praying that she is much better quickly and able to go home soon.

So sorry to hear about the rehospitalization, but so glad Becky realized she was in trouble & called the ambulance. I think of you and pray for you often. Hang in there.
This is just too much. I know blood clots are a risk after surgery but it still stinks when it happens. They're probably checking her INR to make sure her blood is thin enough to avoid more clotting but not so thin that she bleeds like crazy if she bumps herself. Any idea how much longer she'll be on blood thinners (probably coumadin)? I hope she can come back home soon.

Hey everyone...
What a pleasant surprise - I woke up this morning to find I have internet! I wish I knew what was going to happen at this point...they give me a shot of Fragmen (?) everyday in my belly and, from what I've heard, this will continue for months until the clot is dissolved. The scariest part was having the doctor tell me "thank God you came in when you did because you could have easily died from this". I know I should move on but that one sentence keeps replaying over and over in my mind...
My leg hurts so bad now and it's so swollen that it often feels like my skin on my upper thigh is splitting open. I keep looking at it, expecting it to expode any day now...it's definately making getting around near impossible.
I'm hoping to get some more answers today - things always seem to go wrong over the weekends! I'm very anxious to speak with my oncologist and find out what the plan is. I so badly want to be home but I know it's safer to be here...

I'm so sorry, but how fortunate that everyone jumped on this. I'm praying that the rest of recovery will be uneventful.
Oh Becky, wish I had words that would offer comfort to you and yours. What a tough break! Hoping you get much deserved relief ASAP.

It is great to see you posting. Hopefully the internet will stay accessible so you can connect with the world. I was so upset to hear about the blood clot and I am so glad you went with your feeling and that you knew your body well enough to take action when you did. I hope the swelling comes down quickly now that you are on the blood thinners and the clot is dissolving so that you are more comfortable. You must be getting sick of the site of hospital beds but I am glad you are being well taken care of and are feeling better.
You are in my thoughts often and I just wish there was a way to help you to feel better even if it is from a far.
