Ovarian cancer or just false alarm?

I am 38 years old, married for 3 years, never have children. During a recent ultra sound scan, a cyst of  about 4 x 6.5 cm on the left ovary and two cysts of 2 x 2 cm on the right ovary were found. I have seen 3 gynecologists, all of them were so sure they are "chocolate cyst" and advised to go for a laparoscopic surgery to remove them.

A laparoscopic surgery was scheduled to remove the cyst three weeks ago. CA125 was normal before the surgery.

The gynecologist then found the cysts to be teratoma (dermoid cysts), and they are a lot of small cysts which he said might be PCOS and also there are two hard cells on the left ovary. So, the laparascopic was changed into an open surgery, he took a biopsy of the hard cells and sent for further lab tests.

The pathological report came back saying that the dermoid cysts were all benign, but the biopsy of the hard cells express CEA and CK7, negative CK20.

The gynecologist then recommended to go for a CT scan and send my blood sample for CA125, CA153, AFP and CEA. The blood tests and the CT scan all come back fine.

The gynecologist who did the surgery recommended going for a second surgery to remove the left ovary as a diagnostic and preventive measure. I have since then talked to a second gynecologist and a friend who is an oncologist. Both of them think it's too drastic to do so (remove the left ovary) when there is so evidence of malignancy found yet.

Since CEA expression may associate with colonic cancer and I have a history of constipation and diarhrea, they have recommended me to go for a colonoscopy and gatroscopy.

Anyone have experienced the same before? What did you do?

Hi,
Its really down to whose judgement you feel more confident with regarding the removal of your left ovary, it would be a good move to have the colonoscopy and gasroscopy if it was reccomended though . I haven,t experienced  this before but im sure somebody will post to you soon if they have any knowledge of your situation.

take care and Best wishes Angie

What did you ever decide?  I had a laparoscopy 2 weeks ago and they removed pathology of a ruptured cyst.  The doctor missed/forgot about the cyst inside my left ovary that was a complex cyst of only 12 mm.  I have terrible pelvic pain.  He did a follow-up and now the complex cyst is 3 cm inside my ovary.  My pathology also came back CEA negative, but CK 7 and WT-1 positive.  He has now schedule a hysterctomy in 2 weeks with the removal of both ovaries.  What does this all mean? He also did a CT of the pelvis, we find out results tomorrow.
