Anyone BRCA1+ and otherwise healthy

I am looking to talk to somebody who is BRCA1+ and faces possible bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy and hysterectomy.

I am positive and considering this.  My 20 year old daughter is also positive.  We are leaving Thursday to attend the FORCE conference.  Are you aware of this org?  go to www.facingourrisks.org.  Kathy Steligo's book on this is really good.  Feel free to ask me any questions.  There doesn't seem to be many BRCA positive women on this site; however, the FORCE message board is dedicated to this issue.  Good luck!

Hi Jennie,
I was tested, but I was found to be negative for both BRCA's.  Thing is, my mom came from a long line of middle-European Jewish women, 4 generations of whom had breast cancer. I still tested negative.  Then I got breast cancer, uterine cancer and ovarian cancer.  If I'd tested positive for any of the known genetic mutations, I'd have *run* to the hospital and demanded a hysterectomy! Absolutely without hesitation!
So, good luck to you.  Keep us informed, OK?
