The Walk

Well we did the walk, and it poured down rain the entire time, but it was still a good turn out.  One lady had said she thought the Angels were crying, and that made me sad.  Everyone just loved the banner.  Thank goodness I decided to put it on a board then my original paper banner, because it would of gotten destroyed in the rain.  People just looked and looked at the board, and the lady Nancy (who is battling Stage III cancer-what a sweet lady) put it up on a easel under the main gazebo (thank goodness) where it got the attention it deserved.  It was a great day, and even though the event was small, I think they raised almost $100,000.00 for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.    Thank you all for letting me use your beautiful faces for this piece, it was a hit.

You all made the poster beautiful.  I have it in my dining room right now.  A doctors office or some place like that is a great idea.  I am actually going to my gyn/oncologist office at the end of the month, I will ask.  At this walk they did a banner as well and had all the Survivors dip their hands in teal paint and put there hand prints on this canvas, sign there name and put the year they were diagnosed (I am suppose to get a picture of the Survivors holding the banner soon), and after the walk, I went to retrieve my banner, which was right next to this table where all the ladies were doing their hand prints, and just in little areas on my banner are these little teal paint smudges (from people touching all our faces and names), and my husband says, ahhh, they got paint all over your banner, and I just smiled, and laughed, and said, I think it's the perfect ending touch, it made it complete.

That's a wonderful poster. So many beautiful women, past and present, who show amazing strength and grace through all of this. What will you do with the poster now? Wish there was a way to display it year round in a doctor's office or hospital (oncology dept.).

Thank you so much.  I looked at the banner and saw my mom and myself side-by-side.  She would have loved what you have done for us and so do I. I also saw so many women I have grown to love and admire.  Jan, I still miss you.  Marie

How thrilled I am to see my picture among so many "fighters!"  Thanks for allowing me to be part of the walk.

Oh Jane, the poster turned out great!  Thank you for wanting to share our stories.  I wish you'd had better weather for the walk, but it shows just how strong you really are to perservere in a downpour!  Amazing, you are!  What a great amount of money that was raised, too!  You and the entire group did women with OvCa everywhere proud!

Well done!!!!!
