update on Chris (crecco)

Just got a call from Chris, she is in the ER. Apparently she was to have a scan done on her back, but when she went in they decided to scan her lungs for fluid. She said they found alot of fluid and may need to drain..cell phone did not have great reception, so not sure if still doing scan on her back or not. She was not sure if she would be kept in hospital or not.  Will update again when she calls back.

Just spoke to Chris, and she is very tired, sore and upset. She is going back to her moms tonight and will have to go back to hospital in the morning as they drained 1 litre off of her right lung, and will need to have the left lung drained as well. They told her they saw lumps on the scan, and could feel them when draining. (she is not to sure of all they said, probably because she was so upset. The pain she has been experiencing in her lovwer back is caused by collapsed discs, but at the moment she is more concerned with the lungs. They are sending the results on to Dr. Floyd for her, and she will speak to him tomorrow) At the moment she is just upset and scared. I passed on the messages from each of you, and she says Thank you so much. She will call me tomorrow after she is all done, and has spoken to her own doctor. Will update as soon as I know anymore. Please keep our Chris in your prayers and heart tonight.

Absolutely!! So they're testing the fluid they drew from her lung or did they do a biopsy of a lump? It's going to be hard to get up and go back for more poking and prodding tomorrow. Rats! Well, she'll be in my heart and prayers tonight and tomorrow (extra prayers that is).

    Sorry to say I do not know about fluid being biopsied or not. I tried to write everything out that Chris told me over the phone. I am sure she will know more tomorrow after speaking to her own doctor.
   She is not looking forward at all to going back to have the other lung drained, she is sore enough now after having the one side done..but knows it is in her best interest. When I talk to Chris tomorrow, I will ask her about the biopsy part, and let you all know.

Good Morning,

I was reading about your posts with Chris --- and was wondering if you have time you can get back to me.... I have been experiencing for the almost last 3 weeks... severe
lower back pain in my sacrum and pain radiates to the back etc... I have been dx for
OC stage 3c --- in regard to Chris's back --- was it anything to do with OC?  Do you know what kind of a test/scan she had to find out about the compressed discs?

She will be in my prayers and hope everything will be okay with her.

Looking forward to hearing back soon ... as I am now worried about my lower back.

Oh my gosh...poor Chris. I can't imagine how painful that must be, for her to have that fluid drained off. I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers.
Tell her to stay strong...we're all thinking of her.
How shocking that must be, to go in for a test and not come home? I can understand why she's scared - I would be too.

There are times when words just can't get the job done.  There seem to be way too many of those times these days.
It is God awful that Chris is having to endure this fear and pain.  Damn, I hate this.
Please give her my love and let her know how much we all care......there is a very deep well of support and compassion for Chris out here.

I passed on all your well wishes to Chris, and she asked me to come back in and update you all with a bit of good news. She said to tell all of you "I love you all, and appreciate knowing that all of you are behind her". She is very tired, but will be going back to her own home this evening, and will try to come online herself. Until then she asked me to let you all know what Dr. Floyd had to say..
   She does not need to go in today and drain the other lung, as he feels the fluid is not bad on that side. He has put her on an antibiotic, just in case, until they determine the biopsy of the fluid collected in the one lung. (in case it is just an infection). He personally did not feel the lumps or fluid were as bad, as the hospital in her home town did, and wants to wait for the biopsy results to come in, as well as see and talk to Chris in person on Monday morning. Needless to say, Chris is much more relieved after speaking with her own doctor, and is anxious to see him on Monday, and get the results of the fluid biopsy. She is very tired, and sore, but is feeling much better now that the fluid is off her one lung. Obviously I am thrilled she has spoken to her own chemo nurse, and doctor. Hopefully she can rest a bit easier now that he has put her mind a bit more at ease about the whole thing. She will talk to you all personallly very soon, so this will be my last update for her, unless anything changes in between. I am just glad to hear her voice, and the relief she now feels. Hopefully Monday will bring more good news, and the antibiotics will take care of this, and she can continue her battle with chemo.

P.S Thank you to those of you who sent me private messages, and notes concerning my own health..I am doing so much better now that the pnuemonia, has cleared. I have finished the antibiotic treatments, and am battling the last of the bronchitis that is lingering. Mostly just tired of coughing lol
    I hope I answered all of your concerns Irene? and to bebe..Chris does not feel the collapse of discs is connected to the cancer or not? but will ask her doctor on Monday.
I do know from personal experience (I also have collapsed discs in my spine) mine was not connected to the cancer itself, but to degenerative joint disease. Hope it helps, but talk to your doctor about this, and see what he recommends for you personally

What a relief. When you wrote that she wanted to send her love to everyone, I got all choked up. How precious that even in her own pain, she wants to reach out to others. Thanks for the update. I hope she has a quiet, restful weekend and gets only good news on Monday.

I sympathize with your coughing fits. I've been sick for the past week and it triggered my asthma. All that coughing and wheezing really tires a person out. Keep resting, drink plenty of fluids and call me in the morning. LOL
