ull lower back pain/tightness remains. Other symptoms, pain associated with intercourse, occasional sharp intestinal pain

Hello,

I am a 39 year old mother of two young children.  I had my first child in August of 2006 and my second in January of 2008.  Overall, I've been a very healthy person involved in athletics all my life; ate very well with the exception of a couple years here and there (college and pregnancies).

Since I've had 2 kids very close together, I attributed my current state of health to being "out-of-shape".  After I had my daughter, I had lower back pain.  The pain is still here 17 months after my son so nearly 3 years.  To try to get rid of it, I started a very stringent workout plan (6 days a week for at least an hour - some days lifting, some days cardio and yoga).  After 6 weeks of this program, my dull lower back pain/tightness remains.  Other symptoms, pain associated with intercourse, occasional sharp intestinal pain that I have to brace myself and breath through (occurs maybe once a month or so) and a few other symptoms as well.  As far as elimination, I've struggled with that for years despite a high fiber diet.

So, I did some research on the internet and I'm finding scary stuff:  ovarian cancer, intestinal cancer, rectal/anal cancer...  I feel so remiss but really thought it was all associated with being out of shape.  I'm still 15-20 pounds heavier than I was before babies but am working on that - I was pretty thin before babies so I would be very pleased with weighing 15 pounds less than I currently do today.  I have a doctor's appointment in a couple weeks.

I guess I'm just feeling very worried and curious if it is warranted.

Thank you.

A Doctors appointment is always warranted when your body is telling you something is not right, never feel you are making a fuss if you are having unusual symptoms.
Try to stay away from the internet if possible though , you will scare yourself and there are many different reasons that could be causing your symptoms. Good luck with your appointment.

Best wishes
Angie

You are doing the right thing by going to get these symptoms checked out.  I hope you are going to a gynecologist.  Don't waste time at the primary care physician.
