When is it time

We were told in September that my mother had 3-4 months to live without further treatment.  She has taken more treatments, we are actually on the last of the third round this week.  Her stomach was very large and hard this morning.  It is red and warm to the touch.  She has also been throwing up some type of black tarish looking liquid.  She is not eating very much or drinking a lot.  I know she is getting worse I am just wondering if now is the time to take leave from work.  I want to be with her, but there is only so much I can do as I can't get her to stay with me.  Maybe if I'm home all day it would be easier to get her to stay.

Help me please.

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom.  I think she needs to go to the ER now, unless she is on Hospice and if she is on Hospice you need to call them as well as her Dr. The black tarry substance could be signs of internal bleeding, and her belly being red and warm is also not good.  I don't know the progression of this disease, but I do know with Hospice in there it can be made alot easier on you and your family.  Keeping you all in prayer.((hugz))~~Joanne

Yes please call your doctor or emergency!  Sounds like an infection of some sort to me...especially the red belly.  Your oncologist would probablly recommend the hospital as well, unless your mom is in hospice care right now?  Hospice is a scary word, but they have fantastic ways to manage many symptoms if your mom is off chemo (you can always return to chemo later, and leave hospice).

I am so very sorry to hear about your mother's situation.
I think you should call her oncologist immediately and tell him/her your mom's symptoms and  take her to the hospital!!!

She could get dehydrated very quickly and if she is running a fever, she runs the risk of infection....it just does not sound too good to me..If I were you I would take her ASAP to the hospital!
I hope she can be given some relief from the swollen belly while she is there.
I'll keep you in my prayers...please keep us posted.

I wish I had a good answer for you.  I don't know very much about how ovarian cancer progresses, I will soon enough as I am a IIIC.  I certainly will pray that you will get the answers you desire and also for your Mom, that if it is her time to go, that she will have a peaceful and easy passing.  You are not alone, we are here for you, Brokenspirit.

Love from above,
