Wonderful gynecologist

I met with Dr Patricia Lee of Sunnybrook hospital.  We met on a Wednesday and, given some indicators on my results, I was asked to come back on the Friday.  On Friday I was put through further tests and then put through the pre-op process for some surgical time that, by sheer luck, became available the following Monday.

I had anomaly with my ovary.  It was a cyst that for a time looked like it might be cancerous.  Further tests assured us it was not cancer.  The cyst was causing pain and had to be removed.   Another doctor had wanted to remove the ovary and the cyst, but I did not want this.  Dr Lee, however, respected my decision and successfully removed the cyst and only the cyst. It was a tricky operation, but she is amazingly skillful.

I have nothing but praise for her and her very helpful assistant, Maureen.  Thank you Sunnybrook hospital.  Thank you Dr Lee.  Thank you Maureen.

I am so happy for you. Most oncologists are great. Even my first oncologist who was more interested in his rock band was a good surgeon. My doctors at Duke are great Dr. Gaillard and  Dr.Secord.

My breast doctor  Dr. Seeawaldt goes beyond the call of duty. She calls me back if I call or emails me encouragement.

When you are scared a good bedside manner means a lot as does following your wishes.

This is wonderful news! I am so glad she did the right thing and removed only the cyst! Our ovaries and uteri are so important our whole lives and it is horrific how many women lose their sex organs unnecessarily.

I also had a cyst (the size of yours) and my gynecologist was a butcher and liar. I am still appalled by so many women's stories of unnecessary hysterectomies and oophorectomies. One woman posted somewhere that they are working on reducing the rate of hysterectomies in Canada (don't know about oophorectomies) but I don't know if that is true and it may only apply to specific region(s) in Canada.
