Hi there.
Did they specify what kind of Green Tea or extract is best? or any green tea will help.
I know that green tea has coffeine in it and too much caffeine is not beneficial. There is so many different brands and too many to choose from . I have been using loose leaf Green Teas from Mountain Rose Herbs.
What is EGCG?
Can you advise. Thank you.
Sunes.
Hi,
I read not too long ago about the benefits of green tea but that it did not include those beverages already bottled (As in Arizona, etc. ) that it must be brewed, loose or in bags.otherwise the bottling methods removed any benefit. Any thoughts?
Sandy
Hmm synchronicity...
Yesterday someone gave me a whole heap of different types and flavors of green tea - still sitting on my desk at work. Guess I should be trying some today instead of having a coffee.
Green Tea Antioxidants Benefit #6:
Highly Potent
The study conducted by Cao found that green tea exhibits much higher antioxidant activities against peroxyl radicals than vegetable such as garlic, kale, spinach and Brussels sprouts.
About half of catechins are EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate). Available in the highest concentration in green tea, EGCG is the most active and best researched of catechins.
It has been found to be over 100 times more effective in neutralizing free radicals than vitamin C and 25 times more powerful than vitamin E.
It also tops other antioxidants such as butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and resveratol.
Free radicals have been shown to play an important role in tumor formation and progression. Our scientists are studying the processes that give rise to free radicals, investigating their role in cancer and developing novel drugs that trap free radicals. These new drugs are being tested for chemoprevention and cancer treatment. State-of the art imaging, including a small animal MRI facility, have kept our scientists on the cutting edge of free radical biology.
so it would seem that drinking green tea helps neutralize the free radicals that form cancers,
celestial seasonings has a great de caf green tea that is what Leslee drinks
Decaf Mint Green TeaIn Japan, green tea is so widely consumed that it is usually referred to simply as “tea.” The many varieties of tea are determined by how the leaf is grown or how it is processed after being harvested: sometimes the leaf is grown in the shade, sometimes the leaf is pan-roasted after being picked. At Celestial Seasonings, we believe Sencha-style green tea delivers the smoothest flavor and retains the most delicate character of the green leaf. Sencha green tea is made from leaves that are plucked and gently steamed the same day for a taste that’s fresh from the fields. This naturally decaffeinated tea is enhanced with the whistling cool freshness of spearmint and peppermint.
Like many fruits and vegetables, this tea contains high levels of antioxidants to support your health naturally.
Post script to the above I have read many times not to use boiling water to prepare the tea, it distroys many of the good properties, just hot enough to drink is best, Leslee puts the large tea bags in hot water and lets them set for hours, then makes iced tea. she does not dilute it too much either about 2/3 to 1/3 . the mint takes the place of any sugar you would need.
