endometrial carcinoma

My sister who is 22 was recently diagnosed with an endometrial carcinoma, and my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year she is 65. My question is should I be getting annual pap smears or is it more important to be getting annual breast exams. I am not sure of what I should be more concerned about, also if these things can be prevented with any type of exams.

Hi,
Yes, be as careful as you can be.  I always get every test as scheduled. Breast cancer ran in my family for four generations.  I ended up getting not only breast cancer, but endometrial *and* ovarian.  I'm alive and doing well because I went in regularly for checkups and everything was found very early.

Exams don't prevent cancer, of course, but finding tumors early give the person the best chance of a long, healthy life.  Good luck.
