free fluid around right ovary

I'm a 37 y.o. that's been having bad heartburn and had a negative abdominal ultrasound in May. Last weekend I had 10/10 pain in my right upper quadrant that was not relieved by Pepcid and went to the ER at a local hospital where I spent 24 miserable hours with diarrhea and abdominal pain. My bloodwork and urine was all normal. A gallbladder ultrasound was normal. I had a CT with contrast and the doctor asked me if I ever had ovarian cysts, I said no. He was not candid with me about the results and I didn't get to view them. I had a trans-vaginal ultrasound and the tech was very quiet. She did not tell me anything but the doctor discharged me with a burst ovarian cyst, but he said I had free fluid in my abdomen and around my right ovary. I had IV protonix and zophran and a GI cocktail (which helped the pain). I followed up with my primary the next day, still having 7/10 pain and she gave me reglan, donatol and toradol. I have little appetite and am so bloated. If I eat I have diarrhea shortly after. I have an appointment with a great reproductive endocrinologist (I had endometriosis) and a gastroenterologist in the next 2 weeks but I am scared. It feels like something is inside me moving around. I am afraid I have ovarian cancer. I have a strong family history of breast and colon cancers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would also think you had a cyst burst, thats the reason for the small amount of fluid. It can be really painful for a while afterwards. As stated above with all the tests you had and no mass was seen or enlarged ovary...I would be inclined to believe you have a cyst problem and not ovca. There is another forum for ovarian cysts and they are so knowledgeable on that site,I'm sure they will be able to give you more help. Good luck, keep us posted~~~~Joanne

Have you thought about following up with a GYNO?  Or what about getting copies of the reports from the hospital?
If they saw anything on your ovaries, I believe that the doctors are obligated to tell you and suggest that you follow up with a GYN.
I do not believe a "burst" cyst can be seen on a CT Scan....they are guessing that the pain and fluid suggests a cyst burst.  Ovarian Cysts are very common and often do come and go and even burst depending on your menstrual cycle.
Try really hard not to worry....as far as I know, in order to have OvCa you have to have tumors and masses, most likely was not seen in your reports....see a GYN and take it from there.
Good luck.
