hip/back pain/vaginal bleed

Hi

I have suffered with a bad back for 13 years and due to this are not able to work. Its been diagnosed as degenerative disc disease. On Wed when i woke, i'd got tremendous pain (like i've never had) over both hips, and slightly in lower back. I am 53, and stopped my periods about two years ago but when i went to the bathroom, I noticed blood on the tissue after going to the toilet. It's not a lot and it stopped throughout the day, but started on and off again since. I went to the doctor and told him about the hip pains for which he said i'd locked my hips and gave me 1600mg a day of ibrophen. I didn't mention the bleeding because it never camt to anything, but now i;m worried.

I also have degenerative disc disease, although I'm only 43.  And I know the pain of which you speak. One day in October I woke up with the most horrendous hip, butt and leg pain ever.  It is my back, but the docs think that the hysto will relieve the pressure on my back alot.

I agree with Marty above, the bleeding should not come from back issues and to also to go to your gyno for an exam.

I wish you all the best and know that I feel for you and your pain.......... Elizabeth

How long has it been since you had a pelvic exam and a pap smear?  Start there. The back problems after 13 years should not have any thing to do with the sudden appearance of bleeding, A lot of women do occasionally spot after menopause, it is usually a hormone thing. You might also ask for a hormone level test to be run.  Hope this helps some. Let us know. We do care.  Marty
