Thanks MarieMichele for your advice. I appreciate it :)
Thanks for sharing and good luck with everything Jen! :)
Well here is my update - still having discomfort, so I went for a 3rd sonogram two days ago. They now say I have two cysts! One 4cm and one 2cm. The Dr is unsure if my one 6 cm cyst shrunk revealing the 2 cm cyst that was always there or if the 6 cm cyst shrunk and the 2 cm cyst grew! I am at a loss. They recommend that I continue waiting with another follow up sono in 6 weeks.
However, yesterday I felt extreme sharp pain in my lower right abdomen and called my gyno. I got a call back and the nurse told me it was probably gas pain, take a motrin and drink ginger ale! I was like, I've had gas pain before and this is extremely sharp and not going away.
So after an hour of the pain I decided to go to the ER. The pain came in waves but did not subside until 7 hours later, even with pain killers. After blood work, another sono (30 minute external and 20 minute internal!!!! - where they checked blood flow to my ovaries, and every centimeter of my lower abdomen) the dr told me that nothing had burst. It could just be a time in my cycle when I am experiencing more pain than normal.
Now, I have had this/these cyst(s) throughout one menstrual cycle already and have never experienced pain like this. It really worries me that I had pain like that, and I believe that there has to be another explanation than just my cycle.
Could it be endometreosis or something different?
i too have a 6 cm simple cyst i have had mine for 10 months i have been given a option to wait 3 more moths or sugrey me being a total whimp i am waiting 3 more months with eveything crossed hoping it srinks!!! i still keep freaking out its cancer even tho i have been told buy doctors its just fluid!! good luck xx
Simple cysts are the ones that have the best chance of resolving on their own or with BC pills. It may take more than one cycle. On the other hand, it is true that the fluid in cysts past a certain size can be heavy enough to lead to twisting and that can lead to emergency surgery and loss of the affected ovary/tube. The pain is supposed to be horrific, way worse than the usual discomfort of having a cyst. I do not know what your doctor will recommend this time. Surgery or more waiting are both possibilities. Generally, they start recommending surgery for cysts 5 cm and greater. If the cyst continues to get larger, it could lead to larger surgery to remove it and a much longer recovery time, which is what happened to me.
