bloating and discomfort - nervous about v ultra sound

Hi All-

I started feeling a little bit bloated about 2 months ago, but it seemed to come and go, and with my period it was hard to tell what was really happening. I just finished my period last week ad since then my tummy has been bloated, and there is a heaviness full feeling. No menstrual irregularities, no pain - but uncomfortable.
I went to the doctor Monday, they did a manual exam, and a urine test - which showed some (very very slight) WBC/RBC in my urine. She gave me a Rx for an antibiotic - I know this is not uti related, the antibiotic has had no effect.
I have a trans vaginal ultrasound scheduled for this Friday - I am scared. Does this sound like an ovarian cyst(s)? or something similar/scarier? Thanks girls you for any insight.

Let me say that everybody does a great job here, and that it was during a lag when some people were on vacation that Trudie posted and asked for some help from all of us.. like a lot of us have said before, some of us can give answers to questions we know about and when it's something we're not that familiar with we defer to the ladies that have more experience with their surgeries.
I would have that experience by now, but due to my heath coverage, I've had to wait 6 months for my surgery and it is due to the ladies on the board that know me all that time and have kept my spirits up, I'm very thankful.
O.K.?

Thanks ... but I think this whole forum does a great job since its inception in March? April? Think that's when it started. I only wish more of the "older "(experience only not age LOL) gals were still posting. There really is a wealth of information and experience out there. Trudie and I seem to be taking turns vacation wise.. and that's a good thing !!! Think she, Painterchic, and I are the only ones left of the "originals",but we have some fine newcomers too !  I'm just "paying back" ....

Thanks Marty,
We had to step up to the plate after poor Trudie was holing down the fort alone and sent out some smoke signals for help a bit ago. She deserves a lot of credit and a good rest too.. Val

Hi,
Actually ovarian cysts are extremely common in younger women. What you may want to do is check out the top right of this page where it says "Health Pages" . There is all sorts of information on cysts, if you indeed have one.

Try not to worry.. I'm sure they will be able to tell what  your situation is when you have the TVUS.. and don't worry about anything "scarier" as you mentioned-- even if you do have cysts 95% are benign and nothing to worry about. Most just disappear on their own. Sometimes the Drs.  like to monitor them for a few months.

Take care and keep us posted,
Sandy

The TV/US is a great routine test for you to get a clear picture of your reproductive parts.. your symptoms could be from a cyst, but they just could be hormonal too.
Try not to worry about anything before you even know what's going on, and if you do have a cyst, then you've found a place to come ask any further questions you may have.
Good luck,
Valerie
