Ovarian cyst

My daughter is 13 years old and has an ovarian cyst of 4 cm. I was told 3 different treatments to follow: pills to help reduce it,surgery to remove it, and lately, not to do anything until she gets older. What's the right information please?

Has she been seen by a gynecologist? That is the best place to seek answers. Often a month or two on BC type hormones can encourage a cyst to resolve if it is simple enough in nature.  If solid like a dermoid, then surgery is the better solution.

I don't know if anyone can give you the "right" answer.  We all here can give our advice or perspective.  But in the end you know your duaghter best.  You might get a second medical opinion to help you decide. Ovarian cysts are fairly common and can go away by themselves.

Is your daughter in pain?  I know I had one that very painful to the point that I was hospitalized, because of the pain.  But I was older than your daughter.

A second oppinion may help you decide which of the options is best for your daughter.

I hope I was of some help.
