Can a cyst be functional and complex?

I went to my general Dr. with a weird pressure on my right side.  She did a vaginal exam that was normal but sent me for an ultrasound.  She said she thought I had a cyst and we chatted about cysts, it sounded like it was no big deal.  When she called me with the results she wouldn't tell me much, didn't answer questions, said I needed to follow up with a gynocoligist which I am scheduled for.  She did say the cyst was 2.9cm and a functional cyst.  When the US results were posted they stated that it was a Complex cyst, 2.9cm, likely functional.  I also have a small fibroid.

A complex cyst sounds bad.  Im 41, 2 kids, pre-menapausal.  I have 2 questions, first, do these results mean anything to anyone?  Also, what questions should I ask the Gyno?  of course I'm scared to death of cancer . . . .

So the gynecologist said there is zero chance that this is cancer.  I'm taking birth control and we are looking again in 2 months.

Does that sound reasonable?  Should I get a second opinion?

He didn't do any blood work either.  The diagnosis is from my ultrasound and he did a vaginal exam.  He said he sees cancer all day and this isn't it.  Does that sound reasonable?

Chances are that this cyst will resolve on its own as most do. Keep us posted.

This was just my family dr.  She called me with the ultrasound results and referred me to a gynecologist.  She said I should ask him my questions.  When I was in her office she didn't do any blood work.  She did a pregnancy test that was negative and a vaginal exam that was normal.  The cyst didn't hurt when she pressed on it & she didn't feel it but ordered the ultrasound since I was feeling something.  So that's where I am.  The gynecologist will be next.

A complex cyst just means that it's either filled with blood or another substance - https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/322476.php

A functional cyst just means it's part of your monthly cycle. Most cysts are functional, and usually go away with your next couple of cycles.

The vast majority of cysts are benign, meaning not cancer.

I'm a little concerned that your doctor wouldn't tell you anything. Do you have an appointment to follow up and go over your results?

This is exactly what the radiology report said.  Does anyone know if this is concerning?  Or questions I should ask the GYN?  My regular dr. Wouldn't tell me anything.  Thank you!

IMPRESSION:
1. Complex, 2.9 cm left ovarian cyst, likely a functional cyst. 2. 1.1 cm uterine fibroid.
FINDINGS:
There is a heterogeneously hypoechoic structure at the posterior aspect of the body of the uterus, measuring 1.1 x 0.8 x 0.9 cm, compatible with a fibroid. The uterus is otherwise normal and measures 11.0 x 5.5 x 4.4cm. The endometrial stripe is normal, measuring 11 mmin double wall thickness.
No free fluid in the cul-de-sac.
There is a complex, 2.9 cm left ovarian cyst, containing a few linear internal echoes, new since the prior study. The ovaries are otherwise normal. The right ovary measures 2.6 x 2.9 x 2.5 cm. The left ovary measures 4.3 x 4.0 x 2.8 cm. Normal
arterial and venous wave forms are demonstrated in each ovary.
