Can't get rid of weight from Laparotomy for Ovarian Cysts!!

I had a laparotomy (bikini line cut) back at the beginning of September for two 6cm ovarian cysts, and was put on Quasense (Seasonale) shortly after to control my newly found Endometriosis. Recovery went fine other than a small hematoma, but even 3 months after the surgery, I still can't get back to the weight I was before the surgery!! I have recently started doing Zumba (toning and dance) twice a week, as well as trying to do something else during the gaps between. But there has been absolutely no change to my weight no matter what I do (it has stayed the same, to the decimal!). I still have a small bit of the swollen belly look (I never have had a flat stomach, but now my pants are a bit too tight for comfort). Has any one else had problems with this after a Laparotomy? I am 20 years old, never been extremely fit, but have always been average weight, until this surgery that is (and now I'm creeping into the realm of overweight...). I want to try and solve this soon and get back to normal! Any suggestions/ideas are welcomed!

Start keeping a food diary, and consider getting your hormones tested.

You need to be patient with yourself.  Sometimes it can take as long as a year for all of the swelling to go away.  A food diary is a great idea.  If you are able to, Weight Watchers has an awesome program.  I love it.  You get to eat anything you want, but you have to count the points.  You get so many points a day.  It works!! Also, you could start doing light exercise and work your way up to doing exercise videos or walk everyday.  I know how tiring it can be to battle this weight.  Give yourself a break and just do the best you can.  Good luck

Set long term goals, stop beating yourself up, 'watch your food intake' and exactly when you eat (avoid food after 6pm).  If you've never been into exercise, start now and keep it up...its the long haul that will count.

The Quasense could be causing the weight gain/ inability to lose weight.
