How long did your abdomen swell after laporoscopy??

Another quick question for those of you who have undergone laporoscopic surgery: for how long did your abdomen bloat / swell afterward?

I'm just wondering what's 'normal' and how long I can expect to be this bloated / distended!! :-P

Hi.  I just underwent a laparoscopy, and it took me atleast 5 days to get back into my "loose" jeans, and i am just now starting to wear some of my normal jeans.  There are still many pairs that i won't even attempt yet!  I agree with cirella, because i also thought i would recover quicker than i did too. It has been two weeks, and a few days now and i am still kinda uncomfortable inside, but the swelling is gone.  Good Luck to you, and happy healing!

Hi, I couldn't fit into my normal jeans for a while.  I remember thinking that it took longer than I thought to bounce back.

Give yourself time.  Take care.

I think I was a little swollen just for a few days.. I was really bruised as well.. I remember I went to get my stitches out in 1 week and I was in my usual clothes, but still tender.. that takes a little while.. especially if anything hits the stitches (like a grocery cart)

For me, the worst part was the first 3-4 days, until my bowel movements finally broke loose and I could go to the bathroom somewhat normally. After that I still had a bloated looking belly even though it felt better. Wish I could remember exactly how long it took to collapse to my pre-surgical self. It seems like it took a few weeks. And the tenderness took longer.
