Rose,

Yeah i am at home i feel that there is some kinda gas in my abdomen and that hurts..I will be back to work  on tues... about the cathether....I didnt know when they put it in and I think they removed it when i was in recovery cause soon as removed it i felt like i had to pee but the nurses told me that they removed the cathether so that reason i am feeling like that.

The only side effects i have had till now is gas and it hurts when it forms in my stomach, i have had some shoulder and neck pain and my ankles are swelling...for the swelling i am putting my foot on two pillows which help a lot with the swelling.. and i am still taking pain medication as needed...

Hi.
I'm so glad they put it in when I'm asleep, and it doesn't hurt when they pull it out. I'm also so glad I don't even know it is there and I don't notice when I urine. I thought maybe it was a like, "Oh I need to use the washroom but have to go here" kind of thing. That would be weird. It does sound nastier than it is. I feel better about it knowing more about it. Thanks.

I think everyone does get a catheter.  They insert it while you are still asleep through the place where you pee.  It doesn't hurt when they pull it out.  It sounds nastier than it is.  Can be uncomfortable if you move around too much in bed, but if you stay still you can forget it's even there.  Having it makes you pee automatically as needed.  You don't even know that urine is leaving your body.

Hi.
Congrats on such a successful surgery! I'm glad they removed it in time, they saved your ovary, it went well and you're posting already. Are you home? Reading your post is helping me feel better. I might have to get my cyst removed. It is 3.9 inches / 9.9 cm. I just found out a few weeks ago. My doctor will tell me on the 23rd what she wants to do after she sees my 2nd ultrasound. I'm good with pain tolerance too. Right now, it is sore but I haven't taken pain meds yet. I'm nervous.  Reading your experience helps me not to be so nervous. The only thing I'm not liking is that catheter. Where do they put it? It is going to be weird having it / using it. Does everyone have a catheter after a cyst removal surgery? For how long? I hope you have a speedy recover.

You may have had some irritation from the cathether that is subsiding.  Keep an eye on it because one possible side effect is a urinary tract infection.  It may just heal on its own.  If you have some cranberry juice, that can clear out the urinary tract of anything that may lead to infection, but it won't cure one.  There may be some sensations while peeing that are not what you had prior to surgery, but it could be because the areas around the urinary tract are still inflamed/sore from surgery.  It gets better in time.

I am glad you had the operation before matters got worse.  There's some serious testimony on not waiting too long to get rids of cysts once they reach a certain size.

I have had discomfort but it wasnt that bad that i need pain medication or had to go to the ER or something... and sometimes the discomfort got bad after having sex...felt bloated...

may be since i have a high tolerance to pain... we are thankful that the cyst didnt rupture because of the twisted tubes... and looks like i had the surgery just in time.. The doctor could save the ovary too... she found some endometrosis behind my utreus which she had to remove too..

since this the first time i had cathether inside me (i have had my thyroidectomy in mar2007  and they might have had a cathether inside me)  but when i came and peeed after at night it burned like hell is that normal..I have used the restroom after that but there isnt much burning sensation...

I am happy you have that surgery behind you.  I am amazed the tubes were twisted so much without it leading to emergency surgery.  Were you in a lot of pain in the days prior to surgery?

I hear you....the medications make those first hours and days following surgery a lot easier.
