Ovarian cyst and fibroids together=scared to death

Recently I was told through ultrasound that I have ovarian cyst on both ovaries the one on the left is the size of an orange and the one on the right is a little bit bigger than a quarter. I was also told that I have fibroids. I was wondering what are the chances of me not having a hysterectomy? This will be my second surgery for the cyst. I was never diagnosed with fibroids till now.  I'm really scared and I want another child so bad. I'm only 25 and I'm pretty healthy and active.

Dear Trudy,

I am so glad that helped.  Since this is an offshoot of the cancer forum, there are still not enough people to answer cyst questions, but the more info even a few of us can gather from out there the more we can bring here & pass on.  That is how it starts with every forum and than it builds to a wealth of knowledge.  I am really hoping that this forum will provide some real support for women who suffer from chronic cysts as well as those who come looking for first time answers.  I had cysts from the age of 18 thru 32 and I wish I had had something like this to help me through.

Dear Trudie,

This is a site I gave to avant1021 and she said she had found it helpful, I think anyway.
Did you?  It seemed like it was on point talking about cysts and fibroids.  You might find it helpful also.  Did any of you check out the cyst 101 websites?  This is a new forum and there are not enough people to answer them all I don't think so maybe some outside infor would be helpful.  Well, just in case here are the links to the two sites again.

http://parents.berkeley.edu/recommend/medical/ObGyn/ovariancyst.html http://womenshealth.about.com/b/2005/07/12/ovarian-cysts-101.htm

If the powers that be edit the links i will send them to you in an email. Some they let through and others they don't so....

Good luck & I really hope you get a silver lining.

yeah 16 is scarey. Heres the thing I'm only 25, and I'm in pain just about every day. My periods are the worst and my last period was more clots than bleeding(hope that made sense, lol) I've gained so much weight, I was 117, and now i'm 138, as of last week. My stomach is so bloated. Well today at 3 I go in to find out whats going to happen. I know I have to have surgery I'm just not sure what their going to do.

Thanks

Wow, 16!  The wait is driving me crazy.  The cyst is so big and I am so bloated.  I am defiitely way over 35 and have been having very heavy periods with lots of clots.  I essentially can't go anywhere for almost 2 days of my period.  I am hoping they can fix all these problems, romove both the fibroid and cyst, lose some weight and be period free.  I have to find a silver lining :)

Hi avant and Trudie,
I had cysts and fibroids at the same time , Fibroids are very common in women over the age of 35 , many don,t know that they have them . They are benign growths in the uterus and are only usually removed if they cause problems like heavy bleeding and pain.there are a couple of procedures that can be done to remove them without resorting to a hysterectomy . It is thought that oestrogen plays a part in their development. I suppose it depends also how many you have and what size they are , I had 16 but that amount is not usual. Hope that helps a bit .
Take care Angie

I had my fibroids removed two years ago and this time they came back with a vengeance one is almost the size of a grapefruit and there's a smaller one from now the only real option I have is the partial hysterectomy

Well you know its weird none of this started until I started the depo back in 05. I was perfectly fine and had never been on birth control before.  I don't want to keep having surgery. I really want more children, but I would hate for something to go wrong with the pregnancy because of cyst and fibroids. This is so fustrating for me.

Why are you opting to have surgery on your cysts? Have you taken laxatives to ensure you aren’t constipatee? Are you exercising to get the fluid out of your pelvis,

I'll be curious on the answers you get back on this one too as I am in the position of both cysts and fibroids.
