Hi Im 56 yrs old and have had a lap bi lateral salpingo oopherectomy,as I had adenexas on both ovaries, am wondering if i would need to go on HRT, Pls advise, I reached menopause about 6 yrs ago.
thank you
After oopherectomy hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer.
In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy. You can also take Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators like Femarelle which derived from a botanical source (Phytoserms) or phytoestrogens which have an estrogenic effect on the body and therefore create a moderated estrogenic effect.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
HI,
HRT is not necessary as a routine when ovaries are removed, because HRT has its own side effects. If you are having any menopausal symptoms then you will need it. If not then it is better to weigh the pros and cons before starting HRT. Consult your Doctor.
Hope this helps.
