Anyone successfully treated cysts by the pill?

I had a miscarriage last month, and had a D&C. Right after this, discovered a 3cm and a 1cm cyst. After 2.5 weeks, I bleed like a normal period but my gynae said it is too early to be a 'real' period. Scans revealed the cysts had grown to 5cm and 3cm! Now I'm put on birth control pills to 'make sure my period starts properly', as my uterine lining is now 'too thin' to indicate a real period in 2 weeks time (when my period will rightfully start). He hope to see my cysts shrink or disappear with my next real period.
I have no idea how effective birth control pills are in treating cysts. Anyone of you have successful experience? I know this is a common approach but I still worry about them growing bigger or complicated (I have family history of cancer). I'm not in any pain whatsoever, but I'm extremely distressed ever since the news of my miscarriage, and now this. Im 28.

Just an update on my condition:
I went for a checkup with my gynae yesterday, and found that both my cysts are gone! Here are what I have done for the past month:
1. Took the pill religiously (femoston 2/10) as prescribed by my gynae
2. Went for acupuncture (total 3 sessions, namely on the ears, back, lower abdominant, ankles), and took herbal medicine as prescribed.
3. Avoid all food that I read contribute to cyst formation, blood clotting, and oestrogen rich food, namely: alcohol (though it thins blood), red meat, soy products (though there are many sites claiming it is good), caffeine, white sugar (though I cannot eliminate from my diet completely, I cut down as much as possible), dairy products.
4. Take more of blood thinning food, the vitamin E foods, and 'warming' spices, namely: oranges, mango, avocado, ginger, dates, longan, etc.

I do not know which is the single contributing factor, or a combination of all these. To my opinion, acupuncture really makes me feel a lot better. Perhaps some will argue that the pill alone was enough to clear the cysts, to which I have no answer. I am a believer of natural remedies, and I will likely stick to this diet. If you do consider acupuncture, getting a reliable doctor is crucial. There are fake ones in the market which do more harm than good.
Also, please note that people with different body type may not benefit from my practices.

Can all these prevent relapse of cysts? Well, I will keep you posted!

BC can be a non-surgical solution for many women, but they do not work in 100% of all cases.  Certainly it is preferable over surgery.  BC cured me of a cyst when I was 17.  Then when I was 48 (a LONG time later!) I needed surgery for a big cyst that was not treatable any other way.  I hope all works out for you.  You have already been through a lot. My condolences on the loss of your pregnancy.
