Severe Pelvic Pain

My daughter woke up Tuesday morning to a pain she described as if someone hit her in the crotch with their first.  She went to the ER and was told she has a 4.2 cm Cyst on her left ovary and a 1.something cyst on her right ovary.  She also had acne which she hasn't had in several years, and discomfort in her abdomen.  The ER doc told her to follow up with her obgyn.  She did and has an appointment for another ultrasound in 2 weeks.  Shis was given Oxy Codene (sp) and tylenol and told to rest.  She has took her third oxy at 6 pm today, Thursday.  She is still in pain.  She is just laying in bed.  She says it hurts to move.  We called the doc again today and was told that many women have ovarian cysts and that she was not in any danger or they would see her sooner than the two weeks.  How long can the debilitating pain last?  Should I worry?  Please can someone tell me when the pain should ease up.  Thank you.

We went to the gynocolgist yesterday and she stated it is a complex cyst and that they will do a followup ultrasound next week.  She's still uncomfortable but the sever pain has passed.  Thank you again.

Hi sorry to hear ur daughter is in pain.
Some people suffer more then others and also some only suffer pain when ovulating.
If the pain is 'sharp' or becomes too unbearable u should take her to doctor or straight to hospital as this could be a sign that the cyst is twisting her ovary or a sign of cyst rupture if accompanied with heavy blood.
I myself mainly suffer from constant discomfort rather then here and there pain & my cyst is 20cm but I will be having it removed within the next month.
Please ask ur doc or gyno what kind of cyst they think it is?
Please keep us updated and I wish for a speedy recovery for ur daughter
