U/S found a 4.2 cm Cyst. Im scared and confused!!

I had an Ultra Sound today and found out I have a 4.2 cm cyst on my right ovary.  here is a summary I got from my doctor. The right ovary contains a cyst with one or two internal thin septations and a few low-level internal echoes. Negative for internal vascularity in this complex cyst. The right ovary overall is 5.8 x 4.0 x 4.3 cm and the peripheral right ovarian tissue does demonstrate normal-appearing arterial vascularity.   I'm very confused as to what this all means.  i am very confused right now. If anyone can help me clarify what this means I'd apprwciate it,

Thanks!

Sarah

You are young which is good for increasing the odds of it being totally benign. It is mildly complex, though, and those cysts do need to be watched. It is not large enough to require surgery. Doctor might just want to watch and wait to see if it resolves after one or two menstrual cycles. BC pills might help. Did you get the doctor's recommendation yet?

i am seeing a gynecologist on Friday.  I am pretty sure I have had this cyst for at least a year because I had an ultra sound back in August of 09 that confirmed a cyst on my right ovary and I never got it rechecked.  But now am scared and worried.  Could it be possible it is the same cyst or a coincidence that I may have another??  I have always had severe pain in my lower right abdomen so it does make sense to me, and it seems to be getting worse.  Thanks for your help.

4.2 cm is kind of large for a cyst.. all women get ovarian cysts.. thats how we release eggs.. i have poly cystic ovarian syndrome so i have lotsa cysts but they have never given me sizes before.. there not really anything to worrie about.. painfull if they burst.. but birth control pills help keeping them from bursting.. but i think your doc might want to remove it.. ps.. when doctors speak doctor to me i just tell them i speak english not text book.. they normally clarify... sorry im not much of a help
