internal suture pain

Hello! I had a laparotomy in March 2011 to remove 4 ovarian cysts (I have endometriosos). Lately I have been getting really bad sharp, shooting pains near the top of my incision and a little to the right of my incision. I told my surgeon and she thinks it's my internal sutures causing my pain. She did a trigger point injection, but it did not help. I still have the pain and have began to bleed a little as well (spotting). I was just wondering if anyone else has had problems from internal stitches, or if this something I should be alarmed about. It really is pretty painful! Thanks!!

Glad to hear that things are getting better for you over all. However, if you're still bleeding after 2 weeks, even for a period, you might want to get checked out to make sure its nothing to be concerned about or that you arent losing too much blood, iron levels,(especially if you dont normally bleed so long) etc. :) Couldnt imagine bleeding 2 weeks, especially if on a birth control.

Thanks for all your replies! Sorry for my late reply. I am feeling much better! In March I was given a Depo-Provera shot to help keep the endometriosis from coming back, so that probably caused the spotting. But now I have been on my period for 2 weeks! My first "real" period since surgery. Hoping it stops soon. My internal suture pain is pretty much gone now. Every once in awhile, I will get a sharp pain towards the top of my incision area, but it only lasts  a few seconds. Nothing like it was when I originally posted, thankfully!

Had laparotomy 8 weeks ago to remove 3 cysts 2 very large over 20cm between them and also ovary and tube.Discomfort is still pretty bad raw pain on the right side where the ovary and tube were removed and above the insicion site very tender to touch my general health is fine. doc says this is normal and can take up to 13 weeks recovery.today i am in bed resting as i go to Las vegas in 2 weeks for my sisters wedding and even though i have been told by my consultant it is fine to fly i am trying to get as much rest as i can now so hopefully a bit more mobile when i go. i also get the shooting pains accasionally as jess rae commented on.I have had a period since my op but that was 5 weeks ago and no sign of another yet.Last week i had 4 good days where i felt quite positive and now feel like i was 4 weeks post op.

My first 2 periods now since surgery have been less to be desired. Light/Reg flow for me.. but omg the cramping. Painful, im hoping that starts to go away as each period happens.

As for the incision pains, I still get twinges of pains, pulling feelings etc. And on a few ocassions have realized that i have a small lump on incision, hours later it would be gone, come back, etc. it was the muscles, scar tissues etc knotting so just massaging the incision area has helped keep some of the pains down when i get them. Other times i think its also the muscles are healing, and ive got little strength left in them so its using them and strengthening them again which is painful.

Have you get your first period after the surgery? I had my lapatotomy in January 2011 and my first period was very painful. The incision area is painful and it also look a little bit swollen. I google about it but they says if the incision is infected, you will get fever... which i didnt.. so i treat it as a normal period pain...

How are you now?
