Best dosing practices

Hello, have had spinal fusion 7 yrs ago now have adjacent segment disease. Had been on 1 hydrocodone 5/325 per day. Being in constant pain she finally upped me to 2 5/325’s a day. My best option I assume is to take one right before bed so I can get at least 3 hrs of sleep before being woken up by the pain, and then one when i get ready to go to work so I can function for a least a few hours before the pain gets really bad. Is this the best way to utilize the two I get per day or should I try them at different times? I’m in pain 24-7 but with all the hysteria over pain meds I assume that the two hydrocodone 5/325’s is all I will ever have. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate some help.

I agree- a consult with a pain management doctor is likely your best option.
In the mean time - you could technically cut the 5/325 in halves - taking 1/2 tab every 6 hours- which would still allow you to stay at the 2-5/325 mg doses per day but would offer at least some level of ease around the clock.
Only do this with short acting medications though- long acting pain meds can not be cut in half .

If I were you I would have your current doctor send you to a good pain management practice.  They should be able to give you enough meds to cover most of your pain.  I have been seeing PM for more than 10 years and they do everything they can to help.  I hope that helps!
