can pain meds wear off quicker when you sleep?

I don't believe they can actually wear off faster when your'e asleep, however, I do think you can FEEL like they have - simply because when you're asleep and then wake up it feels like time has just gone by in an instant, even if it's been several hours.  So when you take your pain meds and then go to sleep and then wake up, it seems like they have worn off faster because you wake up in pain.

I also agree that since our bodies' temperature naturally drops when we're sleeping, that can add to the morning pain and stiffness - as well as just laying in bed all night, sometimes in the same position for several hours, can make things worse in the morning or after a nap.

Not usually, but everybody's system reacts differently to certain meds.

Hi again, I forgot to also mentioned that when we sleep our body temperature drops just alittle, and some time that can make you feel colder when you wake up, and make it seem like you medication is not working as good. This happeneds to me every morning, and that why its so important for me to have that medication to take as soon as I wake up so I can take my shower, and start my day. This is a must for me, because for me the worst time of the day is the morning. I'm cold, stiff,  and in alot of pain. Also sometimes I get into a deep sleep, and when I wake up its also a slow moving event to get ready and start my day. I wish you good health, and  Take care.  Paingotago

Hi there, I'm no expert, but "normally" when we sleep are blood presure drops a little so they should not wear off more quickly. With that said, if you are having more pain for some reason as you sleep then their might be a variance. What I do if say; its raining, and I take a nap I try to save an extra IR for when I wake up, because I'm so stiff. At normal bed time at night I do the best I can cause I deffinately need something for in the mornig, or the start of my day would be a slow one. Best wishes.  Paingotago
