Stella-new Doctors., apreciate honesty directness and good eye contact. Do not ask for meds, let them take control and call the shots but explain your situation and how you want to keep doing your work activities and not be layed up in bed. Honesty is best and try to keep yor emotions out of it if you can. Let them know that you understand he/she is the boss and do not interupt them when they talk but make sure that you "have your say" and advocate for yourself in a polite friendly manner ( with good eye contact).
You can do this, doctors are people too. They work long hours and see hundreds of people every day. They just want to know they are speaking to a rational and responsible person who is not going to abuse what they prescribe them.
You can do this! Chin up and smile.

Hi Stella,
Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post. I am so sorry to hear that you have lost your physician. My long time PCP, who is also my PMP has taken a Directorship position.....and I will be searching for a new physician also. I know the fear and anxiety you are experiencing.
Inga has offered some good suggestions. Be honest and straight forward with any new physician, just as you have been with your former one. Sometimes we don't always "click" with a physician. As said above they are human too. We don't "click with every person and that is true of physicians also. So you'll know very soon if you have selected the right replacement.
Don't be afraid to consult more than one until you locate a PMP that makes you feel comfortable and confident in their abilities, attitude and bedside manner. It's all important. A good PMP wants you to function and be as comfortable as possible.
Please let us know how your search goes. I will be interested in your updates.
Take Care and Best of Luck to You,
~Tuck
