Prescription

I have a question about a script. I go to the dr every 3 months and he writs me a script for ms-contin and ms-ir the day I see him. I have a script with his signature on it dated 7-25 for the earliest fill date, however, the Walgreens I go to told me they will not fill it because it has not been 30 days. Should I go to a different pharm, go at a different time, or call my dr? I have enough for a couple more days but I don't understand why they won't fill it with a written script with the drs signature on it even if my insurance won't pay for it.

When did you fill your last prescription?

Your insurance company, as well as the pharmacy keep strict records when it comes to narcotics and will only fill them every 30 days. There are "some" exceptions to this when going on a vacation or a weekend day like Sunday is the 30th day...

As well as some insurance companies are more lenient than others and allow it a day or two in advance...

That's why I'm curious what date was your last fill date?

And I would not try to fill elsewhere as most states have the Prescription Monitoring Program which follows you anywhere in the state that you fill a prescription. This keeps people from Dr. shopping.

So you will run into the same issue with another pharmacy most likely. And most Drs. have their patients sign a pm contract where you should only go to one pharmacy to fill your opiate prescriptions..

As mentioned...if it's before 30 days...and you have enough pills...then just wait until the correct fill date.

No, don't do any of the above! Narcotics are to be filled 30 days after your last refill. It does not matter if your doctor gave you a new script you must wait. Why would you need to refill early? you stated you have some left.
