My Strange Periods

I have been using tampons from day one of my periods. I started when I was 14 and still having them in my late 40's (oh joy). What is weird is that if I was to use 20 tampons during a cycle, only 8 of those would be completely used. What I mean is I will have an accident and blood will get all over my clothing. I rush to the restroom to clean up and change my tampon but the tampon hardly has a spot of blood on it. This happens sometimes right after I insert one up to 3 hours afterwards. Light and heavy days, it doesn't seem to matter. I just don't get it, there is only one direction the tampon can go and I can last for hours without an overflow, so if my tampon is not absorbing nor contacting any blood what is holding it back. Also, how is the blood passing by my tampon and soiling my clothes while only leaving a small spot on the tampon.

Thanks for the response but I have to say I really cant see that being the reason. This has been happening from the beginning. I am not a heavy flower, just once in a great while, and that isn't really heavy compared to some gals I know. I have been into the fitness of my vagina to keep my man satisfied. So laxed its not.
I have used every brand, every type, and every size there are and nothing is any different except that with the larger kind they really hurt when removeing them. I figure it is because they are dry.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
This could be due to lax vaginal walls. Hence there may be space around the tampons which causes the leak. Very heavy flow can also cause the flow to rush down and miss the tampon. This can happen due to fibroids, hormonal imbalance, endometriosis etc. Please consult a gynecologist regarding this. You can do pelvic floor exercises to tighten the vaginal walls (an example is kegel’s exercise). Take care!
