From what I have read, most pharmacies are carrying the new Oxycontin. It will be very difficult to get the old ones.
Sandee, are you talking about ghost tablets? The medication is absorbed.

Yes, this is the new Oxycontin. I have heard alot about the new formula and have been doing a bit of research on it as I take this medicine too. I have seen where there have been reports of seeing whole pills in feces. I think it has alot to do with how each individual person absorbs it, some metabolise it quicker and therefore they have no remnants left.
Do you feel the medicine is working like it should? If so then I would not worry about the pill being in your waste. Now even with the old formula people have reported seeing pill fragments in their feces.
Speak to your Doctor if the medication is not working properly. You may want to check around next month to see if you can find the old formula if that one works best for you.
Hello Leahlani,
Welcome to the Pain Management Forum.
I am not sure what which "Oxy" you are referring to. Is it the slow release forum? I have heard that they didn't not seem to be as effective as prior to the manufacturing change. I have not heard that they are not being absorbed completely.
As suggested above I would discuss this with your prescribing physician. This happens to me with enteric coated medications Enteric-coating is a material that permits the tablet to pass through the stomach to the small intestine without being absorbed. Once in reaches the small intestine it is than absorbed. I know that the new Oxycontin is not enteric coated but it may have a similar effect.
I am sorry that you are not having the full effects of the medication. Your physician may have a solution. Please let us know what you discover.
Take Care,
~Tuck
I have heard a lot of people complain about the new formulation of Oxycontin .It is called OP I think .Purdue made this new formulation to stop people from abusing it but I have heard a lot of CP patients complain that it doesn't work as good as the old formulation .There is a substance that turns to a gel to keep people from snorting it or shooting it up and that may be what is causing it to not dissolve correctly .That's my best guess about it though .I would talk to my Dr about this .
Are you referring to oxycodone or oxycontin? I honestly haven't looked, but I have felt like my medication wasn't working as well. I suppose I should look. I don't know what to do when that happens, though.
