Hi Tuck.. As usually your comments seem to be right on. I guess it really is human nature to take for granted ones successes and to not dwell on the misfortunes of those that we may not even know.
I worry that when I comment on things that I come off sounding like I think that I know it all. That is never my intent. I have just been through so much **** with my knees and leg. and pain and drugs. I wish someone could have caught me 12 years ago (back at the onset of my medical problems), and warned me that any of the problems that I have had were even possible. I would have made such different choices. But alas...I just get to prove again the adage about hindsight being 20/20.
I wasn't even aware of this forum until last week when I accidently stumbled across it while looking for something else.
Everyone's posts just break my heart. I feel so much empathy for everyone. This really has been a godsend.. I am not sure it is even nice to be happy that I am not alone in some of my misery...But knowing that I am not alone is perhaps the biggest comfort of all.
You seem like you are very intelligent with an extremely generous nature, You are definitely appreciated for both traits..
Good luck everyone
Vickey
Hi Tweety,
I do not have any person experience with the Pain Pumps. There are several types of them. The theory is because this therapy delivers pain medication directly to the receptors in the spinal cord, smaller doses of medication are required to gain relief.
As Molly said someone just posted on the ineffectiveness of their Pain Pump. However remember that we are all respond differently, physician's skills are different as are the pain pump manufacturers.
Before the permanent pump is implanted they often perform a "trial" to determine if it will be successful for you as well as to discover the most beneficial location. If it were offered to me I would try it. I say that because I am tired of the pain and swallowing pain pills.
Hopefully others will post and share their personal experience. I tend to think that those that have had success are not usually found on a forum. They are out living a fairly "normal" life and functioning. Mollyrae suggested you review our archives and I agree with that suggestion. You may find some previous posts that will be more helpful than the information we have given.
Please share with us how you are doing. We all learn form one another. Good luck to you and take care, Tuck
Hello ttmj and welcome to the Pain Forum.
There is a poster who just posted her experience with the Pump and it wasn't good. I don't think the poster (Hobbsie) gave the original medication a fair chance but that's my opinion.
I'm sure that there will be members who have had other experiences and will comment on your post.
You could go to the "search box" and enter Pain Pumps and see what you come up with. It's possible that there are members who can help.
Please take care,
Mollyrae
