gas bubbles in spine????

I know this is not a pain med question, but I have posted in the other forums.. and no one even responds. You guys have been beyond wonderful helping people with their symptoms... and I am just at a loss. It would make me happy just to hear from someone who understands what I am talking about - maybe someone who experiences the same thing.

Here is the symptom: Sometimes, when my back is hurting a little more than usual (let's say I've been cooking for a few hours as I did yesterday), I will sit and rest my legs on an ottoman. Then I begin to feel what I can only describe as gas bubbles popping in my back (always lumbar where my issues are). They do not increase the pain - but I can feel it popping.

If I were to describe the bubble popping feeling, it would be like when you are pregnant (and I am NOT..LOL) and you get the bubble popping sensation in your stomach (but I feel it in my spine)...

The bubble popping I feel is ABSOLUTELY in my back and even feels like the bones are moving - but I am not moving.. I am just sitting there.

I know this is hard to put into words so others will understand what I am physically feeling- and I will mention it to the doctor next week, but I don't think he will understand what I am trying to describe. (He certainly has NO CLUE what it's like to be pregnant and feel a baby move...haha).

Anyone here ever feel the popping bubbles in their spine? Can you shed some light on this?

Thank you all in advance. As I said before, this forum is the most active AND most understanding!

I have no clue either but I agree that nerves can do weird things. I hope your doctor has some answers for you and not give you "that look" lol

Well, I suppose I will have to explain to thim that it's like gas bubbles popping... but it's not gas... (at least not the kind we think of...) It's really in the spine..

I figure it's really gas bubbles popping (from the facet joints moving - like when you pop your knuckles..) or it's from the nerves, or it's just the bones moving... they did tell me my discs are unstable (reason I need the fusion. They said they move around too much...)

I will let you guys know what he says - but I have a feeling he will brush it off since it does not cause pain (thankfully).

Thanks for your reponses...

I am sorry to tell you that I also do not have a clue. I've never even experienced the  bubble popping feeling that you describe during pregnancy. Maybe I am strange but this is a new one for me. Obviously I have felt my babies move, sometimes kicked the breath out of me. But I have never felt the bubble popping that you describe.

Our nerves can do unusual things. This may be the result of nerve pressure or irritation, even possibly inflammation or something similar. I too will be very interested in your physicians opinion.

Please keep in touch and let us know what you discover. We all learn from one another.

Peace,
~Tuck

I have no clue.  But maybe it's nerves jumping.  You know that feeling you get in different spots?  I get it in my legs at times.  Usually when I'm way overtired or over did it.  Definitely mention it to the doctor.  I hate when I have a symptom that's difficult to describe!!!  I hope you'll let us know what happens.
