My Pain Doctor in WA state raided, I have no meds! Please help me find a new doctor...

I live in WA state and my PM doctor was raided last week by the DEA. His office is now closed and I have been seeing him for 3 years now for treatment of my pain in my back, neck and legs due to an accident. I also suffer from chronic pain all over my body. I had an appointment today to fill my 15mg Oxycodones (#120/mo) and his office was closed until further notice.  I am in so much pain and have medical insurance thru my work, but have no idea where I can find a doctor in WA state to help me. As I am sure many of you can understand, if I dont get my medication soon, I will be a mess. Can someone please PM me a doctor that specializes in pain medicine (not BS topical treatments) in my area that I can visit soon to help me get my medications? It is so sad that we live in a day and age where we have to go to these extremes to get the help we need with pain, but I am desperate here and could really use some help from you guys to get me set up again with pain medicine. I have tried searching for pain clinics, but am afraid I will go there and be turned away with **** that doesnt work for my intense pains. Will someone please help me? I really appreciate any and all info you guys can give me to narrow my search.
Thanks to all!

I am not sure if you have found a PM doctor but I understand your concern that you will go to the one that does not treat pain medication wise. I would suggest that you call around to the clinics that are in your area and ask for the nurse and explain your situation and ask her if she thinks the doctor can help. Also an unconventional approach is to talk to your pharmacist and see if he/she can recommend a good doctor. I found a great doctor once this way. I know we as pain patients suffer the stigma of being abusers but don't let this scare you or deter you from getting treatment. Any good PM doctor knows that chronic pain is extremely difficult to live with and they want to help you and realize your not just seeking drugs.
I wish you the best of luck. Let us know how your doing.

Hello Frankfooter:

Until you find another PMP, is it possible to go back to your regular Physician and have them treat you until you find another Doc? You must have had your regular Doc refer you to this PMP. Most Doctors will not leave you without treatment if they are well informed with your condition.

There is also the Emergency Dept. I'm sure that if you tell them your story, they will give you enough meds to get you through for a week or so. Like I said, you'll have to go back to your regular Doc and go from there. Obviously there was something wrong with this PMP's practice and maybe it's a good thing you are not with him anymore. DEA's don't just go in and shut a Doctor down without a very good reason and a long investigation.

You could google "Pain Management Clinics" followed by the name of your city and state. I have always had good results for other members who needed help.

Please take care and good luck finding a new Doc.

Hi Frankfooter,

Welcome to the Pain Management Community. I am glad you found us. I am very sorry that you have found yourself in this situation and very sorry that you have so many pain issues. We understand pain here.

I do not know any member from you area off the top of me head. I am hoping one of our members will see your post and be able to make some suggestions. If no one responds soon I would at least begin calling the PM clinics in you area. Often you can ask some minimal questions regarding the practice when you make an appointment. If you explain what happened they may be willing to work you in sooner.

And you are so correct. It has a shame what CP patients must go through sometimes to be treated and often beleived. It makes all of us angry at the injustice.

I am hoping you will have success in locating a new PM Clinic. Please keep in touch and share with us how you are doing.
Best of luck and Take Care, Tuck
