Why do people do this? Wouldn't it be easier to call a 24 hour nurse adviser to get information? The professional would know what questions to ask.

I agree with shinty's suggestion to you. Based on your description of the
problem, I would make a doctor's appointment as quickly as possible as
a bowel obstruction is quite serious and it can rupture. Blessings, Eve :)

You might have some sort of a bowel obstruction, or something like that. I'd go to a doctor ASAP. this can be a serious thing, especially if your bowel ruptures. Please get looked at sooner, rather than later.
