5 weeks pregnant saw the sac but no baby

Hi, I am 5 weeks pregnant.  The vaginal ultrasound showed a sac, but no baby.  Is is too early to show a baby?

As you can see from my posts, there is hope.  It is hard and painful and worrisome, but hang in there.  Usually the baby can't be seen till 7 weeks.

Just an update.
I am currently 35 weeks pregnant and I'm on bed rest.  I have been having lots of contractions and I am taking contraction medicine.
The doctor did an indepth ultrasound and said my baby girl gets a 10 out of 10.  She is practicing breathing and her lungs are well developed.  She is a very active little girl.  She kept trying to bump off the ultrasound wand!  She weighs about 5 pounds 9 ounces.
I am due April 12th, but she may me coming into this world earlier.  We were thinking of naming her April, but if she comes in March she might me named Kayla.
Thank you everyone for all your support.  I will send another update soon.

Athena, wow, it sounds like you've been through alot.  I will definately keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I had a positive pregnancy test a week ago Friday.  I honestly dont know how far along I am...but judging from the early ultrasound I had today...not far at all. This wasnt exactly a planned pregnancy, but certainly a welcomed one :)  According to my memory and everthing I can figure, I should be at 5-6 weeks.  However, the doctor wasnt able to see any sac or any evidence of a pregnancy.  Gosh, that is the scaries thing ever... He kept reminding me of how young I am and that there would be more opportunites if this one didnt pan out..yea, after I've gotten so excited, not exactly for the words I'd hoped for.  So, they took my blood to look for the hcg levels and will let me know what it is tomorrow.  I suppose that will at least confirm the baby exists?

Any advice?

Hi Athena,
That is really really great news, i can't wait for all that, I think that my doctor is miscalculating my pregnancy, because when i went in she said i am about 5 weeks and 3 days at the time, right now im supposedly 6 weeks and 6 days, but during the 5th week we did an u/s and there was nothing not even a sac, but they saw a small spec in my left fallopian tube, and i was so scared, I have had 3 u/s all 3 did not see a sac of any kind, but that spec is there, but the spec does not seem to have a sac of any kind around it, so they are saying it may not be an ectopic pregnancy, how scarey, because this is my first pregnancy and my husband and have been trying for 3 years. Today i go in for another b-hcg test, and get the results the same day with another u/s..and im crossing my fingers that the baby is finally where the little peanut suppose to be..this is pure torture..

Thank you so much. It's been 2 days since I got the d&c and I'm feeling much better today. I try to think positive and stay positive, for me, my hubby and my daughter. This pregnancy was my second one after 9 years and I was really happy about it. I had doubts at the beginning when my husband was planning to have a baby. But when I found out I was pregnant I couldn't be more happier.
I'll take it easy for the next 2 months. I'll let my body to heal so next time I can carry a succesfull pregnancy.
I'll let you guys know about it. But for now I'm in the healing process.
