i meant to say that to ashelen......not you dimplez5886!!! Sorry bout the mix up!!
i did ask my own question on the page....and i am going tomorrow to the doctors to find out what is going on.
Actually if you are 5 days late for your period, you can be pretty sure that the pregnancy test is accurate. So I would say since your period is MIA and you're trying to have a baby, it's time to make an appointment with your OBGYN. There may be something going on with your body that's delaying your period and making it difficult to conceive. Best of luck!
steph 0607 - You can test today or tomorrow and be reasonably sure that whatever the result is on the pregnancy test is accurate. When I was pregnant all 3 times I cramped right around when my period was due, and I was still pregnant. You'll get more responses if you start your own question. Best of luck!
MrsLeftwich - I think that if you have tested in the last few days, you are not pregnant. There is always a chance, but I think it's time to make an appointment with your OBGYN. Delayed periods can indicate something going on with your body, and if you're trying to have a baby or think you may be pregnant you need to be seen by an OBGYN and get a full look-over to make sure everything is looking healthy either for your pregnancy or for any future pregnancy that you might conceive. You will also get more responses if you start your own question :-).
if you are only 5 days late I would wait a little longer. I am currently 10 days late and took 2 pregnancy tests in which both came back negative. I took one on the 1st of April and the other on the 12th of april. As of today (April 17, 2011) I still haven't had my period but for the past 2 weeks have been having bad cramps like I am getting ready to start it. I have been peeing a lot more, having my appetite change to where I either eat more or less than normal, I try to exercise but no matter what I still gain 1-3 lbs, and I have been more tired now than I ever have been in the past. Some of my family thinks its depression or stress while others think that I could be pregnant. I was told to wait til I was either 14 days late or until I missed my period by a full month before I either take another in home test or see a doctor. what do you guys think?
My boyfriend of 3 years and I are ttc we have only been tryin since jan. I am supposed to get af today..I'm hoping that doesn't happen but how soon would a hpt detect if I was pregnant? I have been having some cramping like I'm getting ready to start but I also have thick cm like I do when I'm ovulating...any advice?
Clysta is right. If you're late a HPT should be able to pick up on your HCG levels and come back positive.
As for how much longer you have to wait, no one knows but I wanted to tell you our story. DH and I had tried for four years to have a baby. Two years ago the doctors said we would never be able to have kids without medical intervention. We were devastated. We tried one IUI but it failed. We basically gave up in January and now it's April and found out I'm pg. We thought getting pg would be easy as cake. I mean everyone didn't seem to have too hard of a time getting pg. But it took us four years. Just don't give up hope and be patient. I know it's a pain sometimes. And confusing and heartbreaking every time you see a negative HPT but once it finally is positive it's worth the wait. Good luck!
How long are your cycle days? If your period is already late then a test should be completely accurate.
