So last night my niece who just turned 17 last month told the whole family that she is 5 weeks pregnant, and I cant help but to be upset! She has her whole life ahead of her so I pulled her to the side and asked her whyy was she not using protection...and this was her response...well my boyfriend and I are always on and off I dont want him to leave me so I decided to get pregnant! And I was like what! They have been dating for 3 months! Anyways even though I am upset I told her id be there for her and help her..now her boyfriend is 23 could he get in trouble for statutory rape? Since she just turned 17....
Depends on the state laws but most states age consent is 16 which means he wouldn't get in trouble unless her parents pushed it
Age of consent is 16, but a 16 year old cannot legally have sex with a 23 year old. At least in Alaska.
